Can't display dropdown fields in Word 2003 when sent as email

I created a Word template and have added dropdown fields to th
template. I protect the document. The dropdowns show the list fin
and let the user make changes to the doc, but when you go to send th
document as an email the changes and the dropdown fields do not show u
at all. Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong or what I a
not doing to get these to show up
