Can't "edit picture" in Word 2002

Hi all,

I'm having problems editing pictures. In the past I've been able to insert
a Bitmap or JPEG picture into a document. From there, I would right click on
it and choose "edit picture". This option is greyed out.... any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?QWxN?=,

it and choose "edit picture".
And this command opened the picture in Word's picture editor? Or in Photo Shop?
What did you do with/to the picture, once you entered this "edit mode"?

Hi Cindy,

It's my understanding that "edit picture" launched Word editor, it was not
Photo Shop. Could a person set up the "edit picture" option to launch Photo
Shop within Word? That may be a viable solution.

Once I was in edit mode, I'd typically add leader lines (arrows) pointing to
critical areas in the picture. Text would accompany the leader line.
Basically, I was adding in callouts to my pictures.

It appears that I can use the "AutoShapes" functionality in Word but these
features aren't imbedded into the picuture, but rather the document.

You cannot call Photoshop from Word.
You can group the call-outs with the pictures using the tools on the drawing
toolbar.

In some versions of Office, Photoshop was part of the package, and pictures
(some formats, anyway) would open there when double-clicked. I just wanted to
make sure that wasn't what you were looking for...

Right, I know what you what, I think. Tools/Customize/Commands, Drawing
category. Scroll down through the list and you should find a tool for "Word
picture" (a yellow landscape "thingy"). Drag it to your Drawing toolbar. Click
that, and you should be in the Picture Editor. Insert the picture here, "float"
it, then add the AutoShapes/callouts.

Theoretically, you could use the new Drawing Canvas to accomplish pretty much
the same thing: a single "Drawing-thingy" that you can move around in the
document without having to use the "group" functionality. But personally, I
still prefer the Picture Editor.

I don't believe Photoshop was ever part of Office. I imagine you are
thinking of Microsoft Photo Editor.
