I want to scan documents into my computer as text. I have been told to use
Microsoft Office Document . I couldn't find it on my computer so I went to
Add/Remove Programs > Microsoft Office and changed it. When I was in there I
went to Add or Remove features > Office Tools > Microsoft Office Document
Imaging > Run from my computer > Continue. It gives me the message
"configuration has completed successfully" but yet I still can't find the
program!! Can someone please help me? Thanx

The shortcut should show up in Start, Programs, Microsoft Office,
Microsoft Office Tools as Microsoft Office Document Imaging.

If that shortcut isn't there you could try running mspview.exe from
Start, Run as that is the executable.

The shortcut does not show up and I can't find an executable with that name.
Someone also said to use OneNote but I don't know if that's the same thing.
I have Office Home and Student 2007.

I don't have access to Home and Student, and have never used OneNote so
I can't comment on that. You could try running Microsoft Office
Diagnostics and see if that clears up the issue. Also does Microsoft
Document Image Writer show up in the list of available printers?

Yes, it does show up in printers & faxes. does that mean it's there somewhere?

You wouldn't happen to be running Vista 64 bit as the operating system
are you? If not, what operating system and are you an administrator?
Also try running Microsoft Office Diagnostics.

I'm running Windows XP. I am logged on as administrator. I ran Microsoft
Office Diagnostics and everything checked out ok. I am trying to do this on
my desktop and just can't find it. I just checked my laptop and it is there.
I am networked to my desktop, would I be able to use my laptop? It doesn't
really matter which computer I use as I'm gonna save the documents to a
flashdrive.

I'd go back and check the Office setup (in Add/Remove). I wonder if it
really has been Installed/Enabled. There is a repair option also if it
does appear to be installed.
