can't get the mouse wheel to scroll in Word97

When using Office 97 Word I can't get my mouse wheel to work the scroll
up/down. Used to work, how can I get it back?

I find it can be fairly random whether it works or not, but do check
your control panel > mouse settings to make sure the wheel is set to
auto-scroll.
