Can't insert photo

I am using Pub 2002. This morning I scanned some pictures(.jpegs) for a doc
that I'm creating. I was able to insert those scanned photos into a
Publisher, no problem. THen, I tried to insert photos(more .jpegs) from a
folder on my computer, but those photos didn't insert. I only get a very
small box with a red X in it. These photos are very high res. I can't insert
any of them.

The odd thing is that I can insert the photos into Word. I tried opening
the photos in MS picture manager, and then cutting and pasting into
publisher, but that doesn't work either. I get the same small, small box
with the red X in it.

I found my video driver and updated it. I can't think of anything else to
do. Any thoughts?

I'd recommend lowering the resolution. What do you consider hi-res?

Can you insert the images if you change the picture display to hide pictures?

Are you certain you have the most current video driver?

Last time I checked, Publisher imposes a filesize limit of 16MB on
imported images. IIRC Publisher 2002 converts all images to PNG for
storage internally; this means that JPEG filesizes become larger than
they seem. If you upgrade to Publisher 2003 or 2007, then images will be
stored as JPEGs internally, allowing you to use larger JPEGs.
