Can't Install Office 2000, XP or 2003 becasue of invalid Key

Hi,

We have a server that we need to get Office installed on for development
reasons. The Server is running Windows 2000 Server, Service Pack 4.

Each time we go to install any version of office we get an error of Invalid
Key, please check the CD key on your CD. We know that the key is correct as
it will install on other machines, just not this one.

Have contacted Microsoft and they agree the CD key is valid, so that's not
blocked, but they weren't any more help than that. On the office install you
get to the screen where you enter the User Details, Company etc, enter in the
CD key, click on next and then get the message of Key not Valid.

So far we have tried re service packing the server, to Service Pack 4,
trawling the registry to make sure that there is no installers of office, or
previous version of office someone has installed and removed without telling
us, re installing the windows installer, running setup using G:\\setup.exe
/l*v C:\install.txt /qf PIDKEY=ourcdkey.

This works until you want to use any office application as it then comes up
with invalid key again, and you have to end task as the application will not
let you click on any of the tool bars.

There isn't a mismatch between OEM version or a retail key, we have checked
and double checked that. It is a volume license, with the Microsoft volume
CD. We have also tried a boxed retail version, with the sticker for Office
2003 as well, but still no joy.

The strange thing is that office 97 will install, and word and excel will
work, but access chucks up a license error, and access is the main
application we are trying to get to work on the server. Before trying to
install office 2000 we are uninstalling office 97 fully and using the
orktools to make sure it is fully removed, but still no joy. Short of
rebuilding the server, which isn't a task I want to do I have no
idea what to try next.

Anyone any ideas?
