i work at a computer store, and one of my clients brought in his PC. his
problem is that when i try to open up a *.pub file (both already on the pc
and one that i made to test the program) i get an error that says: "Publisher
can't find the file specified. The next dialog box will let you browse to
locate the file...". Then i select the file from the browse dialoge box and
i get another error msg saying: "Publisher can't open file."

any ideas? anyone seen any problem like this before?

Also, norton antivirus is not on the system, and these files opened fine on
another system.

Does the system that doesn't work have the exact same *fonts* being used as
are listed in the publication?

Is the file on a removable disk? If that is the case, copy it to the hard drive.

Some other reasons:
When the computer is connected to one or more mapped network shares that are
nonexistent or that are currently offline.
•When one or more mapped drives are persistent, and the drive is in a domain that is
not trusted.
•When the mapped drive is located on a slow or a down-level computer. A down-level
computer is when the operating system of the computer has an earlier version of
Microsoft Windows than the computer that you are using).
•When a mapped drive is connected across a Wide Area Network (WAN).

How much disk space does the computer have available?

What OS is in use on this machine?

How big is the temp folder? Go to Start > Run > %temp% > OK > Ctrl+A >
Alt+Enter and look at the filesize.
