Can't read news postings

I am using a Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.3.9. I use Entourage to read
newsgroups.

Suddenly today, I receive an error message on any message I attempt to read.
The error (No. 132) states the message is no longer available. I can read
messages that I previously read, but no new ones.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Another point is that I have no trouble reading from the Microsoft news
reader, only my news reader from cox communications.

Thanks,

- Russ

Hi Russ!

Comcast has announced they will be discontinuing their newsgroup
services on October 25.

Possibly they've jumped the gun.

If you're trying to access the Microsoft newsgroups then I suggest you
connect instead to msnews.microsoft.com.

A quick search in Google will provide you server addresses for other
Usenet groups.

Hope this helps!

Hello William,

I use Cox Communications, not Comcast. Has Cox announced this
discontinuation as well?

I also checked on two of my other computers (another Mac and a PC) and both
showed no contact with the Cox news server.

Thanks,

- Russ

Apologies, Russ!

This sounded so much like a recent discussion that my mind instantly
switched to Comcast.

I do see that Cox is actually changing their newsgroup services too,
however, for the better.

Is your newsgroup server address either "news.east.cox.net" or
"news.west.cox.net"?
