can't rebuild data base

My Entourage problem spans two computers. I was using my old IMAC and forgot I'd recently put emails on the server- 404 emails started to download and crashed my computer. After restart, could not open Entourage program, (Entourage cannot access data etc- Rebuild database.) Rebuilt and saved to new harddrive. Entourage files didn't open on IMAC or the harddrive backup. So, I opened Entourage on my new Mac laptop to uncheck leave messages on server. Downloaded all 404 emails onto new computer and deleted. After successfully doing that, closed Entourage. Upon trying to reopen, now I get the SAME Message as my old IMAC?? Rebuild database on my new computer?? Now Entourage won't launch on either computer and I can't get any of my emails. Please help.

Just to be clear. You are using Entourage X. What version? Do a Get Info on
Entourage. It should be at 10.1.6 if not, download Entourage X 10.1.9,

Does Entourage launch in a new Identity?

Are you aware that you are using End of Life software? If you don't need
Exchange you can get Office 2008 very reasonably. $108.99

Entourage has not been updated since 1/5/2007. Consequently it does not work
with many of the changes since then especially security features that ISPs
use on their servers.
