can't run office on laptop without network connection

I loaded my Office 2000 premium onto my laptop which
operates on XP professional. I can work in word and excel
when I am connected to the network but as soon as I go
portable the office program crashes.

Val, did you get an answer? I have the same problem and
I'm desparate for a soloution.....

I'm not sure what you are asking? I have crahes that occur if the laptop is not online? My Norton is disabled and I have the latest updates...?
