Can't see thumbnails of photos anymore?

I used to be able to see thumbnails and slideshows of my pictures in clip art
and mypictures. Not sure what happened but that's no longer an option. Help

Open a folder and look in the toolbar (the line of icons under the line of
words)
The one on the right is a box with a blue top and smaller squares inside;
click this
Select Thumbnails
