I've got a Dell, running XP. I can type in every other program except Word. I've tried reloading Word, going back to several restore points...and I still can't type when I open a Word document. My mouse works (can select, drag, etc.), and the menu items work (cut, paste, etc.) - any ideas

HELP!!!

Just a wild guess...you don't have the font set for white, do you?

Have you activated your copy of Word? Check under the Help menu. If there is
a command there about "Activate" try it. If you have a version that doesn't
require activation there won't be such a command. If you have already
activated, it will tell you that.

Assuming that your copy of Word has been activated, this may be the effect
of the PWSteal.Tarno.B virus.

Riz,

Try to type in word safe mode. What happens? To start
word in safe mode follow these steps:-

click on start->run->type in "winword.exe /a (without the
quotes and there is a space between .exe and /a). Hit Ok.
This will start Word in safe mode. What happens here??
Can u type??

Regards

Basheer

Note, this is a diagnostic procedure (which can occasionally fix the
problem). You do not want to be opening word this way regularly, any more
than you want to be regularly opening Windows in Safe mode.
