Can't View Tasks IN PWA with View Processing on Separate Server

W

Wendy Friz

When I click on a project in PWA it says there are not
tasks. (i can see them in Project Professiona). We are
setup in a distributed environment with the views
processing on a separate server. When we move the views
to the Project Server box we no longer have the issue of
not being able to view tasks.

Has anyone run into this issue as we need to be setup in
this distributed environment do to our usage concerns.

Thanks in advance.

Wendy:

Assuming that you distributed the views processing service at the time of
initial installation, it sounds like the view processing service was not
correctly installed on the remote box. If you decided to move the views
processing service on an existing installation, that's another story. Can
you give us some history?

We solved our problem. One of the registry key on the
Project server that had to be added had the wrong value
(i.e. ForwardUNC, which is supposed to be the path to the
ViewDrop directory on the Application Server).

Another problem that we found is with the editsite.exe
that allows to create other instances of projectserver.
When a new instance is created, the application server
does not have the proper registry keys created as well.
And there is no way with the Distributed setup tool to
create the registry entries (in particular the GUID
string) for this new instance. We are still looking for a
solution for that.

Wendy:

Your problem likely lies in security policies on the system. The Editsite
tool does work and it does create the correct registry keys. If it's not
happening on the subject system, then something is preventing it at the
system level.
