Hi,

Simple question....New user...Just want to enter text into a cell without changing the cell size or "overwriting" neighboring cells. It's ok with me to just see a portion of the text in the cell but view the rest of the text in the formula builder. Just don't want the cell size to change or overwrite other cells.

Many thanks!!

Go to Format> Cells> Alignment, put a check in the box for "Wrap Text" which
will prevent the content from extending along the row.

However, the Row Height still will automatically increase as you enter
content into the cells because Excel doesn't like to have anything hidden
from you unless you give the word to do so. In order to prevent the Row
Height from changing either adjust it manually or use Format> Row> Height to
enter a value of your choice [even if it's the same default 0.18]. Both
methods basically tell Excel "That's the height I want, don't adjust it".
[NOTE: Those steps will also prevent the Row Height from adjusting
automatically if you increase/decrease font size.]
