CG Times (W1) font

Recently got a new system with Word 2003. Prior Word 2000 documents were written using CG Times (W1) font. When opening an old document, the screen text appears to be CG Times (W1) and CG Times (W1) is displayed in the font box. However, this font is not available from the drop-down menu to format new or pasted text. I also could not find this font on my system with Word 2000, only CG Times, which is different - Any suggestions besides reformatting entire documents to a new font?

Hi,

I think the (W1) font is a printer resident font. If it looks different than "CG Times", maybe Word uses font substitution for the
missing font. Look in "Tools > Options > Compatibility > Font substitution".

Maybe your printer came with a CD to install this font? If you can live with the difference, you might also "permanently replace" CG
Times with Times New Roman. There will be a small difference, but it'll be easier to exchange documents with other users.
If you prefer the look of CG Times, you might still be able to replace Times New Roman with CG Times in your printer's font
substitution table.

Greetings,
Klaus
