Changing A "Lot Of" Data With One Command ?

B

Bob

Hello,

Using Excel2007

Let's say I have a very long column.
Might be a column of text; or numerical.

I do a search for duplicates, and several hundred duplicates are now
outlined in a red box.
The duplicate function really works well.

How can I change (all) the values that have been highlighted to a
different text or numeric value all together ? Is there one command
that would do it ?

Or, is it possible without using the Duplicate function, to enter in
some command what I would like to have changed (all of them), and to what ?

Thanks,
Bob

EXCEL 2007

Take the following actions (assuming that you know what the duplicate
value is):-

1. Ctrl-F to launch the Find and replace window.

2. Type duplicate value in the:-

Find what:

- field.

3. Click on Find All

(I find 110 cells in the example I have just run).

4. Click on the Replace tab.

5. Type in your replacement value in the:-

Replace with:

- field.

6. Click on Replace All

(In the example I have just run EXCEL echoes back with:-

Excel has completed its search and has made 110 replacements).

If my comments have helped please rate my posting.

Thanks.
