1. Every time I click on a menu item at the top of a MS Office application, the shortened menu is displayed and I have to click on the arrows to expand the menu. Is there any way to make it automatically become an expanded menu when I click on the menu item

2. How do I get rid of those annoying boxes that appear every now and then. Like when I paste something a box with a paint brush appears and will only disappear when I type something

Thanks for your help!

You don't mention what version of Office you are using. However, see if
this works:

1. Go to Tools | Customize | Options. Check the box that says "Always show
full menus".

2. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the Smart
Tags tab. Clear the Label text with smart tags check box.
