Changing Screen Resolution

S

Simon

Can anybody assist me please with changing the screen resolution of a site. I
should say that I am new to Frontpage and have developed a site using an
embedded template. The site was made on a PC set to 1024x768, but it seems
that anybody viewing the web site with a smaller screen res has to scroll
around. Ishere a way to change the res in Frontpage. I realise I may hae to
change the layout to suit. Please dont suggest any code, as I dont know how
to use it yet !
Many Thanks

Screen resolution has almost nothing to do with anything, other than to set
a maximum practical width you can have for your browser window.

You mean like a button you can push? No.

Yes. Definitely.

How about this.

1. Decide (based on your observation of the potential users of the site)
what their browser setting habits are, and the range of browser widths you
want to support.
2. Decide how you want your page to behave in various browser widths. Do
you want it to -

* stay left aligned and have a fixed width, or
* stay left aligned and have a flexible width, or
* have a fixed width and move to the center of the screen, or
* something else
3. Based on the minimum width supported, and the type of page you want to
build (the decision points above), start creating your page using
fixed/flexible elements, and content no wider than the minimum width desired
for your support.

Like that.

Most templates I've seen are flexible or fixed for 760, with a flexible
table design if you dragged a table border its possible you wacked out the
table.

Post the url to the site and you'll get more suggestions.

The pansies are too wide :)

On the index page the two images total width is 734px (pansies 476, young
lady 258) 734 + the left nav column width is too wide for 800 px viewport.

Make the pansies narrower ?

| Many Thanks Rob and Murray.

whoa, nellie!...not only are the pansies too wide, but the image file is
200K.

you need to optimize and resize images before you bring them into
fp...don't use FP to adjust images. download IrFanview and use it to resize
& optimize and a zillion other image things.
