Changing the aspect ratio for slides in PowerPoint

Is it possible to change the aspect ratio (width divided by height) for
slides in PowerPoint? If so, how do I do it?

My presentation will be shown on a wide screen monitor with an aspect ratio
of 1.75. Power point slides appear to be close to 1.25. I intend to run two
separate PP presentations on the screen at once so my desired format would be
close to .86.

With standard aspect ratio and having the two presentations running side by
side on the same screen, I get a horizontal black band above and below the
two images. I would like to optimize my screen space.
