Changing the Word template

[Switzerland calling]

I have reviewed the forum here, but can't find specific guidance to my
problem. I thought I knew how to do this, but I seem to be missing
something...

- Created new format/ template I wanted it and saved it in
C:\Documents and Settings\"my user name here"\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates
- in that folder I renamed the "Normal" file (to get it out of the way),
then renamed my template as "Normal"


This used to work, but it seems that now Windows recreates the Normal
template into the folder again and I cannot over-ride it.

I have Office 2000.

Any ideas gratefully received...

You cannot create Normal.dot. Only Word can do that. See
