characters changing after spacebar in Publisher

A secretary is complaining that when she types a ";" and then presses
"enter", the ";" changes to a bullet.

She cannot recall what she may have changed in Publisher to cause this to
continue to happen.

Any suggestions?

She has bullets selected. You can disable them by toggling the bullets icon
on the formatting taskbar or go to format/indents and lists and turn off
bullets.
