I want to use a line chart to show the results of a simple regression (a weight-guessing equation). I highlighted the 3 columns (height, weight, and predicted weight) but the resulting chart did not show height on the x axis. How do I get the chart to display height as the x axis? I'm using Excel 2008. Many thanks.

One approach is to select the X and Y data (X on the left and Y in an
adjacent column on the right) and create an XY Scatter chart type.

Then add a linear trendline to show the predicted values.

Or, add another data series to the XY Scatter chart using your X and
Predicted Y values.

You can format an XY Scatter data series to show lines or markers or both.

In general, do not use a Line chart type for this task because it uses the X
data as equally-spaced labels.
