Hello,
I just installed Office 2003 Standard Edition, and installed sp2 the install
went fine. I had Office 2000 Pro install without Outlook 2000 Pro. When I
got everything installed, I opened Outlook 2003 (installed This time) and it
said I did not have a profile go to mail icon in control panel and create a
profile for my email. I did that without any problems and Outlook 2003 sp2
works fine. My problem is when I try to go to Help > Check for Updates on
Outlook's menu I get this window with this message. "This operation has been
canceled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system
administrator". I use Windows XP Pro sp2. I have never had this message for
any program in Office 2000 Pro when it was installed. I have administrator
account and did not change anything other than install the new Office 2003.
I use Windows firewall and get the message with it off or on. I use
BitDefender Standard AV and same thing I get the message with it off or on.
I do not know where or how to even change any restrictions. Or what it is
talking about. I just use the computer. I am not good at the computer
security settings. I want to keep this program up to date as I do the OS. I
can use IE 6 and check for updates for the computer and it works fine. Also
On Word 2003 and Outlook 2003 under Help > the item "Microsoft Office
Online" is grayed out on both programs. I did not install Excel or
PowerPoint. I have activated Office 2003. I would like to get these working
for updates and information. Thanks for any help or advice.
