Class action?

I've been extremely discouraged and frustrated by the office 2008 "suite". Beyond missing features from the PC version, Word is unusable (it crashes constantly), same with clip art and most of the other applications. I'm not even using spaces to attempt and keep office running smoothly. Considering how long this has been out and that we're on 1 major and 7 minor updates, has anyone considered legal action for the abhorrent quality?

"Legal Action"? On what basis? Certainly none of the points you offer here;

Beyond missing features from the PC version,

Nowhere is it claimed that Office:Mac & Office for Windows are identical -
nor have they ever been. You're also overlooking the fact that Office:Mac
offers features not included in the Windows versions.
Word is unusable (it crashes
constantly), same with clip art and most of the other applications.

I'm truly sorry you're experiencing difficulties... As are others. However,
in the final analysis most of the issues are found to be locally caused and
can be resolved when diagnosed & corrected. And keep in mind that for every
user posting an issue there are probably another 1,000 who do not have the
problem.

In a brief search of both this as well as the Word forums I see no previous
posts or queries bearing your identity. Exactly what steps have you taken to
diagnose & address the problems you're having?

There's no question that Office 2008 was riddled with flaws when first
released, but the very updates to which you refer have corrected most.
I'm not
even using spaces to attempt and keep office running smoothly.

Incompatibility with Spaces is incontrovertible but hardly grounds for legal
action either. Office 2008 was developed on the Tiger platform before
Leopard appeared with the new feature. Even if Apple had provided full
disclosure of what their plans were there's no guarantee that it came in
time to be incorporated into the programming of the Office apps. Further, a
revision of the windowing mechanisms across a complex suite like Office is
something that can't simply be popped out via an update.
Considering how
long this has been out and that we're on 1 major and 7 minor updates, has
anyone considered legal action for the abhorrent quality?

If you think you have a case, by all means have at it. OTOH, if you'd care
to tackle the problems you're experiencing perhaps there are some here who
would be willing to lend a hand.
