Clean removal of Groove 2007

Add/Remove Software does not do clean removal of Groove 2007. After removal,
the system still hsa the Groove interface on the toolbar and still starts up
at startup. If you try to reinstall, it bypasses the original startup
screen.

It seems the installation differs depending on what you enter on the first
screen. I want to do a clean installation to get back to that screen.

for a bad install - one has to resort to manually deleting the files
(presuming that you have the needed account files, etc.. archived already).
After the deletion run clean-up utilities like 'ccleaner' and 'regseeker'.

This was an initial install and I seemed to have made the wrong choice on
the initial page. So there is nothing worth saving. I have done a reg clean,
but there are still residual files. So I am still on a search and destroy
mission.

John
cleaning the registry is not so much the issue as deleting folders created
in my documents under your user name and a groove folder in All Users if that
was installed - just search for groove*.* and delete it all and reinstall

normally groove asks during an uninstall if ypou also want to delete all
user data

hope this helps

Groove is insidious and has hooks all over the place. I was never able to
totally remove it. The uninstall left pieces all over the place. I cleaned
out the files, I cleaned out the registry and it was still there. Shortcuts
were all over the place.

After the last install, I deleted the one and only Groove account using
Groove. Next Groove startup I was back to where I wanted to be. So now I can
set up the Groove account properly.

The dev team needs to look at their uninstall process and make sure they
clean up properly.
