Clip art appears in print only, not print previews

hello!

i have the oddest problem i have ever encountered. there is a clip art
embedded somewhere in my document. it doesn't show on print preview, any of
the on screen views (normal, print, outline) but does print in the middle of
my document (just once), changing pages each time! it's not in watermark,
header/footer, etc.

i *thought* i had started a new document, but i must have cut/pasted
something from an old document i mocked up last year with the stupid palm
tree. the tree was not used in the final product last year - so i don't know
how it got into this year's text.

any ideas? i'm going to try and recreate again, but this was too wierd to
not understand.
thanks.

We've seen this type of problem once before where a graphic was being
inserted by some sort of hidden XML code. Was the document by any chance
converted from WordPerfect? I've seen another (WP) document that used
graphics in a way that was opaque to Word.
