Clip art

Hello,
We're using Office 2003 sp2, and we're wondering why Visio Standard tries to
install whenever we attempt to use clip art. Is this normal? I thought clip
art was a part of Word.

Thanks for any help.

You didn't mention what version of Visio (e.g. 2003) you have installed.

Clip Art's not just a part of Word, but Clip Art (Clip Organizer) is an
Office Shared Feature that also ships with Visio (since Visio 2003) as an
Office Shared Feature, so if you have a computer that doesn't have Office
but has Visio you can still use Clip Art and other Office Shared Features
like spell check, etc.... It's normal for Clip Art to install the first time
you use Clip Art since by default it's set to 'Installed on first use' in
the installation options but after you first use Clip Art it should install
and you shouldn't see it again. See this help article for more info on
installation options
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA012340671033.aspx).

Are you seeing Clip Art try to install every time you try to use Clip Art or
just the first time?

Hello,
We don't have Visio installed, but I would suppose that it's trying to
install 2003 standard. I'm not sure I understand this. Do you need to have
Visio installed in order to run clip art? We should be able to just run Word
and clip art without installing Visio, right? Thanks again for your help.

That's interesting. To answer your questions: No, you do not need Visio
installed to run Clip Art. Yes, you should be able to run Word and insert
Clip Art without Visio.

Do you know how Office was installed? You said 'we' don't have Visio
installed, so I'm wondering if this is on a broader scale than just one or
two computers. My guess is that it's installed from an admin point (as
opposed to just installing from the CD) and customized. This sounds more
like an Office Setup issue than a Visio application issue so you could try
the Office Setup newsgroup. It's hard to say though why that's coming up
without taking a look at your install process and any install logs, but when
it gets to that point I typically recommend contacting Microsoft Support
Services (800-MICROSOFT or http://support.microsoft.com/oas) and opening a
support case.
