Codes are appearing in bookmarks when saving as PDF

I'm using Word 2007 and Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro. The setting "Convert Word
Headings to Bookmarks" is being used. When I use Acrobat PDF Maker to save
as a PDF, I'm getting strange characters like "11B", "12B", etc. appearing
before the bookmark titles. These characters don't appear in the Word
document on screen or when printing. Field codes are turned off.
