How do i color match the fill in a text box to a picture so it looks as
though they both have the same background.

I use Publisher 2007. Still a relative newbie but here goes, it may help but
if not the experts here will come along and correct us both :)
If you do not know the colour combination of your text fill box. Click into
Text box that has been filled / Go to drop down menu Text colour / click the
coloured square that you used / click more colours /click custom / note down
the RGB numbers that you used for your text fill. You are now aware of the
combination colours that you used for your text fill.
Now the picture fill. Select your picture / Menu Fill colours / Custom /
Delete RGB numbers and type in the numbers that you used for your Text fill
/ OK it / close. If this is correct / SAVE. Otherwise wait for more
reponses.

Hope I have got it correct.

2007 also has a eye-dropper tool in the fill menu, it helps when you need to
match a color in a bitmap.
There are color pickers around that are good and free. I use Pixie from
www.nattyware.com It is small and free.

Hi Mary

Thank you for your link to PIXIE. I now have an icon on my System Tray and
will use in for my needs. It is perfectly adequate and quicker for me, also
much easier to access.

PIXIE / RGB will usually come up with a slightly inaccurate result if
running on a 16 bit display, but PIXIE certainly is good enough for me. I'm
sure the OP will prefer your method as well.
Many thanks Mary.

I was impressed with Publisher's new eye dropper tool, touch a color and
Publisher puts it on the color menu.
I've used Pixie for years. I found it useful when I wanted to match a font color
with a color in a picture.

Hi Mary

I have only ever used the eye dropper tool to do transparent backgrounds.
Learning something new every day! Will certainly give it a try later on
today. Sounds magic.
