color schemes wrong

The color schemes on my XP machine all appear to be basic
colors and if I select any higher bit color it just
displays a basic color.

Machine is on 32bit high color and it only happens in
publisher.

What version of Publisher are you using???

It is publisher 2000.

I will try updating the graphics driver but every other
program has the full range of colors!
