Is it possible to change the default font size of 'comments' in Word 97?

Modify the Comment Text paragraph style to suit your needs. Note that
the changes won't be visible in the screen tip, but you will see it
when you print your comments (or in the Comments pane).

If you click into such text, then look at the Styles dropdown at the left
of the Formatting toolbar, what do you see? I see "Commment Text".
If you then go to Format/Style, select this style name from the list, then
click Modify, then choose Format/Font you should be able to change the
font.

I'm not looking at this version, right now. But as I recall, it's very
similar to later versions, and the formatting is controlled by a style.
