completely removed?

Using Outlook 2003. I am new to Outlook, I have been using Eudora most
of the time. I was wondering that when messages are deleted in Outlook
2003 from any folder/mailbox, are they completely removed after
emptying the Trash?

I ask this because in Eudora there was an option "compact mailbox"
which literally removed all deleted mail.

Is there something similar in Outlook 2003 or it is not necessary?

Thank you.

It's not necessary. When you empty the deleted items folder, the items are
permanently deleted. You don't need to compact your mailbox, Outlook will do
this for you when your computer is idle.

The compress option is still available though.
Rightclick the root folder (Outlook Today)-> Properties-> button Advanced->
button Compact Now
