Conferting File format

vsp deborah

One of my users stored 250 photos on CD in a pdf format. The person that will
work with them wants them in a raw format. Is there any way to convert the
entire disk at one time to a raw format, rather than opening each file and
saving in the new format? Thank you.

This newsgroup deals with questions relating to Microsoft Publisher. Your
question seems to have little to do with Microsoft Publisher, so there may
be places where you will get an answer more quickly.

Why exactly were photos being stored in PDF format?

As PDF stores images in JPEG format, there is not going to be an easy way to
extract the images from the files without either quality loss or filesize
inflation.

That said, there are programs here to extract images from PDF documents:
http://www.verypdf.com/pdf2tif/index.htm
http://www.downloadjunction.com/product/store/18214/index.html

I have not tried these programs. They were turned up by a Google search for
"extract resources from pdf file"
You may or may not be able to drag multiple PDF files into these
applications. I don't know, as, as I said, I have not tried them.

Why would you archive image files in the
..pdf format?

I think your only hope for good resolution
would be to revert back to the original image
files *before* they were saved as .pdf files.

FWIW...there are several different RAW
formats...each camera mfg. has their own.
Some camera mfgs have more than one.

Try posting your question in a newsgroup
that discusses RAW formats.

rec.photo.digital would be a good place to begin:

I assumed that vsp deborah meant raw image as a real image file such as PNG
or TIFF (or JPEG or BMP), as opposed to an image embedded in a PDF file.
