Confirmation Email

Is there a simple way to generate a confirmation Email with the order
information in addition to the confirmation page?
TIA

where you say "with the order information", are you using some kind of
FrontPage form or a shopping cart type script?

Sorry, I should probably be even more specific. This is a standard submission
form done in FP 2003 on our htm site. It is a referral form for appointments.
Client places a referral order for a person to come and see us and I just
want to acknowledge via emailed reciept that the order has been placed as
opposed to a simple confirmation page. I want the order data to go out with
that email so they have a "reciept" of acknowledgement on their side.

So and so is coming to see you on 6/20/05 and is to do such and such.
please let me know if they do not attend.

I hope that clears it up a little.

it's no problem, right click the form/ chose form properties, and set the
"results by email" in that forms dialog box.

I was wondering the same thing so I looked it up and found that you can't
use a form field as the 'to' address but you can use it as a 'from' address
in an e-mail. Check out this link for more information.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP011168661033.aspx

If your host supports e-mail auto responders you can do the following:
1 Set up an e-mail address just for responding to the form.
2 Set up an auto responder (on your new e-mail address) to reply to all
e-mails with a standard 'Thank you' reply (or whatever it is you want to
say).
3 Set up the FrontPage Form Properties to send to the new e-mail address
using the e-mail address from the form as the 'from' address.

If everything is set up properly, anyone who fills out the form would get an
e-mail with the 'Thank you' reply (or whatever it is you want to say) and
the information copied from the form. The only thing I don't like about
this approach is the e-mail that the person receives will have a 're:'
subject line.

I haven't tried this yet but I intend to. If you do, please let me know how
it works for you.

Thanks,

John

Ok, that works sending the form to me, but can I also send it back as a
reciept to the submitter? Their email address box is a required field.

Ok, we have our own servers, exchange 2003 etc.. Autoresponder can be
implemented, BUT! Could the "re:" include the name of the referred client?
TIA

One last thing, we already have an email address/shared folder for all of our
submission forms based on group distribution lists whcih also sync to
sharepoint.

If I set up an autoresponder i'm a little worried it's going to bounce
around quite a bit. I wish I knew more about exchange but it's not one of my
strong points yet.
I'll try it out anway.

Yes, you can use a Form field for the subject line but I don't know if you
can use two fields such as F_Name and L_Name. Maybe someone else might have
this information.

it's an either/or scenario with the FrontPage form handler.
it's fairly easy to make a custom form handler in php or asp depending on
your server.

you can search Microsoft's site about "daisy chaining" the form, which is a
way to get the effect you want.

you'll probably have an easier time just making a custom form handler in asp
or asp.net for the form, it's really not all that hard. you'll find good
examples at places like www.asp101.com and the like.
