Connecting Project 2007 Client to Project Server

Try leaving off the "default.aspx" part and see what happens.

Can you give more information about what "it doesn't work" means? What error
message is displayed?

Thanks for your prompt response, I have tried the following for
troubleshooting so far:

- Added the website to my trusted zone
- Disabled and enabled annonomous logon within IIS
- Confirm that autologon to intranet pages is checked within IE
- Tried to enter the url in different manners within project such as
http://projectserver, http://projectserver/companyname,
http://projectserver/companyname/it,
http://projectserver/companyname/it/default.aspx

Here is the way I am test out client connections:
- I open Project Professional 2007
- Go to tools > enterprise options > Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts
- I click on add, and in the account name field, I put in my username all
lower case, project server url I put in what I mentioned above, I click on
the radio button that says use windows user account, select set as default
and click ok.
- On the warning that comes up saying it is not an https connect, I press
yes to continue.
- I confirm that "automatically detect connection state is checked and I
click on "ok"
- I then close out of project, reopen it and I recieve en error stating
"login failed. Project could not connect to server, Please check your
username and password and try again, I click ok, I enter my credentials in
manually and try again and recieve the same error. Under profile, if I pick
computer I can log on successfully. If I take the same URL and copy and paste
it in I.E I can logon to the site successfully.

Thanks for all your help and let me know if I have missed anything!

With the link that you have shared seems a wss site rather than a
Project Access site. If you have created the instance of Project
Server with the name "PWA", just type "http://projectserver/PWA",
thats all you need to provide. If your instance carries a different
name, replace the name with "PWA" and you should be doing fine.

Sarfaraz.

Is there a way to find out what name was used at the time of installation, if
not PWA?

On the wss central administration, go to SSP Administration and under
Project web access sites, you will find a list of all instances of
project server.

you will not find the 'Project Server" tab if you have not installed
the binaries of the project server.

Sarfaraz.

Sarfaraz,

Thank you so much for providing me with the link for
www.learnmsprojectserver.com . It was well worth the $20 I spent on it.
Your videos walked me through setting up the Project Server step by step and
I was able to get it integrated with the client. Now the only question I
have is, lets say my company has many different departments, will I create a
PWA for each department, or does everyone share one? What if I did not want
sales to see the Finance projects?
