Connection Error after Mailbox Migration

Hi !

We want to move about 2000 Mailboxes from different organisations (5.5 to
2003) InterOrg to one new organisation (2003). The migration works fine, but
the outlook 2003 clients post an errormessage upon start, stating that the
exchange server is in recoverymode. Pressing the Connect Button lets the user
access his mailbox, but i really don't want 2000 users call the helpdesk
asking why this happens.
Some more details of the migration:
We did not migrate the machines, just the users, groups, mailboxes and
Public folders.
So the users workstation is still in the old Domain (2000). Connecting to
the new mailbox he is asked for the credentials (new domain) he checks to
remember username/password at this dialog.
The weird thing is that if i press Connect it works fine, so it should not
be a security nor a connection issue. i have no clue, so any hint would be
appreciated,
