preventing re-creation of Outlook offline storage after migration.

Hi,

While preparing an inter-organization migration of Exchange 5.5 to
Exchange 2003 we are facing the following problem:

many of our users are using Outlook 2000 on laptops with offline use
enabled. Those users connect to the Exchange server on slow datalines.

After moving the mailbox to Exchange 2003 the offline storage file on
the laptop is removed and recreated when Outlook attaches to the
mailbox. The content is synchronized with the mailbox on the Exchange
2003 server. The synchronization can take
many hours because of slow bandwidth and size of the mailboxes.

Is there a way to prevent the recreation of the offline storage
file and keep the existing offline storage (.ost) file? I know Quest
Exchange Migration Wizard can modify the .OST file in such way
re-creation is not needed.
Outlook 2003 clients and Microsoft Exchange Migration Wizard in clone
mode does the same.

Thanks for the help.
Marcel
