Consolidate projects, resource pooling, and SharePoint

Scenario - I have a very large project that has roughly 15 sub-projects with
their own project plans. Each plan is store on our SharePoint site. Each
plan has its own resource sheet.

Concerns - I cannot calculate a critical path without having all of my plans
consolidated. Because each plan has it's own resource sheet I do not know
that my tasks are truly set for the proper duration/work. I joined this
project about 50% of the way in and the current plan was a disaster and I
have been doing my best to get the plan pulled together, but some key
resources are no longer with the company or if they are cannot give me clear
explanations of the tasks that have already been completed.

Questions - Can I consolidate project plans if they are all stored on Share
Point and how? How can I set up a resource pool for my main project plan and
allow the subordinate plans to use the same resources? I need to calculate a
critical path and do not believe that I can successfully do this without the
above addressed, am I correct in this thinking?

Thanks, DSM

Hi DSM,

I am not too familiar with Sharepoint, but to answer your questions about
Resource pools and consolidating project files, take a look at Mike Glen's
series of articles on Project at:

http://project.mvps.org/mike's_tutorials.htm

Article 17 addresses Resource Pools.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
