Contacts missing, Kind of???

RL Gartin

Here's the deal. I setup Outlook and wanted to use an existing .pst file. The
way I was taught, was to setup Outlook, and then close it, go to the file
location and delete the created outlook.pst and then either copy the old .pst
into it's place or start up Outlook and point it to the .pst location that I
was wanting to use. Right or wrong, this is how I was taught and for the most
part, it works except for this time.

When I fire up Outlook, all existing email is there, when I pick on the
Contacts, they show up, but when I create an email and pick on the To:
button, no Contacts show up in the "Select Names" window, in fact the whole
window is blank. In past cases, I have been able to pick the arrow down for
"Show Names from the:" and select a different "Contacts" and everything
appears, but not in this case, there is nothing to pick. I have even gone
into the "Address Book" but nothing shows up in there as well and nothing
shows up in the "Options" window inside the "Address Book" either.

Is there some way to fix this or would I be better off removing and
re-setting up the affected email account and then copying from the old .pst
to the new one?

Thanks
RL

This will corrupt your mail profile.

This is the correct way.

If I were in your shoes, I'd start with a fresh mail profile, point it at
your existing PST, add the Outlook Address Book service to the profile and
then enable the contacts folder as an address book. This should give you a
cleanly operating Outlook.
