Contrast Colours

We use PPT at our church to project the words to the music. We are having a
somewhat intense discussion about the best colurs to use. Currently we use
yellow on black. What if any is the collective wisdom about this subject.

Thanks

Larry,

There's lots of thoughts about what colors project the best.

'Play it safe' and go for white on dark navy blue. Avoid red text.

I always favor dark backgrounds with light colored text...as when you are projecting...you are projecting 'light' onto
nothing 'black'. A bad example is black text on a white background....the white starts to erode the black text....also
your eyes start to close down and lose contrast and the ability to see color, like staring close to the sun.

When you are printing...you start with paper 'white' and put ink on it...so black works best. A bad example is white
type on a black page...the type starts to disappear and become illegible unless the font is really bold.

My comments and suggestions:
Create your presentations in 16:9 aspect ratio.
Use Black background with White or high contrasting bright color fonts.
Insert color blocks or pictures to enhance topics, and layer text beyond the
borders of the pictures.
Use rear projection screens when you can.
Avoid using high motion animations for text or slide transitions.
What looks great to you may not look so great to others, ask for feedback.
