convert word doc. to user doc.

I am newcomer to word and I need some help please. I have a document that I
have created in " word " . What I am trying to do is allow this document to
be used as a standard form. It is a report of sorts and in the report there
are areas where people will be typing in information. When I tried to do
this, as a test , everywhere I type creates more alterations to the document.
How do I make this a standard form so that I can use this report. Thanks

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/LinesInForms.htm.

Once you have created your online form, save it as a template in the
Workgroup Templates folder for your users. Then they can create new
documents based on it using File > New. For more on the different kinds of
templates, tabs on the file new dialog, and locations of templates folders
see http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm.

Hope this helps,
