Converting from a publisher file to a PDF.

In my Publisher flyer I inserted a logo (jpg) it was surrounded by a white
box, I used the trasnparent button and it looks fine in publisher. When I
convert it to a PDF, it shows the white box again. I have tried all different
formats of the logo, i.e. tif, jpeg, eps. Does someone know how to stop this?
