converting MS word 2000 documents to the MSReader

Does anyone how or know if there is going to be support
for converting word 2000 documents to Microsoft Reader?
The version says it will work for Office 2000 and 2002
but I cannot activate it.

Any help appreciated.

It's a COM add-in, and you may need to add the relevant menu item before you
can make this add-in work.

Pick Tools, Customise, then find the "COM Add-ins" item ("Tools" category)
and drag it to a menu (suggest the main Tools menu). Then when you click on
this new menu option, you'll see a dialogue which allows you to set it up.

As it happens, I'm having trouble doing this for non-privileged users. Fine
as administrator...,
