How do I convert my Publisher image to a jpg so someone
else can read it who does not have Publisher?

Publisher 2002 can do this to a degree (it's only suitable for proofing, not
for final copies)
Publisher 2003 can do it better
All versions of Publisher can do it if you get SnagIt 6 from
www.techsmith.com - it contains a image printer driver (you print to it, it
converts it to an image for you)

The only success I've had to accomplish this (Publisher 2000) is to
print out a copy in Publisher and then scan it.

Have you looked at SnagIt 6 from www.techsmith.com? I've had great results
using that with other apps

Richard, have you tried changing the DPI to 300 when
saving as a png? The text turns out perfect here on my
system when testing.

No problems here on Publisher 2003 saving as PNG. Text quality is great.

Publisher 2003 overall is excellent.

Brian,

Yep, tried that. I don't have Publisher on this system, but I'll put
together a couple of comparisons so you can see what I'm talking about.

Cheers,

Richard

Easy. Just save it as Save as... then choose the jpeg
format.

Now the hard part is what dpi will it save it as? That's
what I'm here looking for, a way to save ti at a
different bigger size, 300 dpi.

Like Sheri, I'd like to convert my pics to jpeg files. At the moment, I scanned them and saved them as word documents and as pub. documents. I would like to know how to save them as jpegs. It seems as though jpeg files are the most convenenient and applicable. Is this correct? I should add ... I have downloaded SnagIt, but don't know how to use these programs from here. Now what?
Yvonne (a.k.a. "New to I.T.")
Thanks!

First, select the capture mode. SnagIt can capture images, text, video and
the Web.
Next, select the Input. The Input defines what you want to capture. If you
select Screen, SnagIt will capture the entire screen. If you select Window,
then you get to click on the window that you want to capture. Check the
other Input options available to you and play with the them.
Then select the Output. Output is where you want the capture to go. You can
send the capture to the printer, Clipboard, file etc.
Hit the Capture button, or use the Hotkeys to begin the capture. By default
the SnagIt capture Hotkeys are [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[P]. Some Input options
require you to then select what you want to capture. If the Input is set to
Window, click on the window that you want to capture, if it's set to Region,
drag out a region by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the
mouse.
If the SnagIt Preview Window is enabled, after you take the capture it will
be displayed in the SnagIt Capture Preview Window. Pressing the Finish
button will send the capture to the output that you have selected. Pressing
the Cancel button will abort the capture. To enable or disable the Capture
Preview Window, Select Options > Preview Window icon from the in the Capture
Settings pane.

You could change the Word document into a web page, Word will automatically change
the image to .jpg with a separate folder. You also can scan them into MS Paint which
will allow you a choice of formats.
With SnagIt, once you do your snag, save as a .jpg. ctrl+shift+p

You can actually use the SnagIt Printer driver and print directly to SnagIt
from Publisher (or any other app).
You can then save it as multiple jpeg files

so did anyone find an answer as to how to improve publisher 2002 "save as jpg" image resolution? rather than the default setting of 150 dpi, i'd like to try and get it improved to at least 300 dpi.

Why not try reading the earlier replies to the post? You may find out that
there is no way to improve the native export resolution of Publisher 2002,
however, you can upgrade to Publisher 2003 or use software such as SnagIt
from www.techsmith.com that captures information through a printer driver
and converts it to an image.

Publisher 2002 only does 96dpi (NOT 150dpi)

If you want 150dpi and 300dpi you will need to upgrade to Publisher 2003.
Send an airmail letter to Father Christmas and see what he can do for you.
You will be lucky as it is a tad late for requests - but you never know.

It also does 72dpi, depending on your screen resolution.
