Copy/Paste changes formatting

When I copy and paste more than one line of text (usually containing returns, as in an address), it changes the spacing between the lines from 0 to 10 -- even though it was 0 in what was copied. So I have to go through the extra steps of going to "Alignment and Spacing" in the Formatting Palette to adjust "Paragraph Spacing After" back to 0. This should certainly not be happening! Is there something I can do that will keep that from happening?

HELP!

Yes: When you paste, the incoming text would normally adopt the formatting
of the destination text.

I suggest that you use Format>Style>Modify... And change the formatting of
the style you are using so the spacing is to your liking. Then check "Add
to Template" to ensure that your change is saved back to your template so
you won't have to do this again.

Thanks for your reply, John. At issue here is that there is nowhere in my documents that I use a line spacing of 10 -- always and only 0. So the question remains, why does it change when I copy an address from one doc and paste it in another? I have no problem in correcting the spacing in the paragraph spacing after section of the formatting palette, but how can I keep the change from happening in the first place? The template(s) to which I'm pasting are already set to 0, but the copy/paste process changes it to 10.

Ignore the "Paragraph" formatting -- it's the "Style" formatting that you
need to look at.

Change the formatting of the STYLE in the destination document to be what
you want, then you will never have to change it again.

And be aware that some documents have the "HTML spacing rules" set, and some
do not.

Look in Preferences>Edit>Cut and Paste>Settings. If you have "Adjust
paragraph spacing on paste" turned ON, that will override the style, so turn
it OFF.

Check Preferences>Compatibility Options. If you have "Don't use HTML
paragraph spacing" set in one document, that will also produce peculiar
effects.

But I think it's your style that is wrong.
