Copy Views - Two Instances

I have a PWA customized view that works great in one instance and I want to
use it in another instance. How do I "copy" it or import it or otherwise
transfer it to the other instance?

Hi Dale,

I have downloaded this tool, but when I run the ViewBackup.exe file not much
happens.
I get a black screen which pops up and down very quickly?

Where am I supposed to pull the results from?

Thanks
Lindsay

You need to run this application from a command prompt. The documentation
that came with the application will tell you the command line prompts you
need to supply to back up and restore your PWA views. Hope this helps.

Be careful using Microsoft's View Backup and Restore tool to transfer
Portfolio Analyzer (PA) views from one instance of Project Server to
another.

If you simply back up the views in one instance and restore them into
another, you will need to tweak the XML backup file that is generated,
or the restored PA views will not work (other PWA views should work,
such as Project Center, Resource Center, etc.). The info in the XML
file for the PA views contains info such as the server name and the
cube name, and if this info is different from one instance to another,
then the XML will need to be changed. Simply open the XML backup file
in a plain text editor (such as Notepad), search for the names of the
PA views, tweak the info, then save.

Good luck!
