Copying tasks and resource assignments

Is there a way to copy a project's tasks and resource assignments without
copying over actuals?

Debbie P,
I'm afraid you are going to have to clarify what you want. There just
isn't enough information to give a firm answer without making a lot of
assumptions. For example, what are you trying to copy? Why do you want
to copy something (i.e. what is your end goal)? What do you mean by,
"... copying over actuals"?

Several of our project managers have projects they created this year with
tasks and resources specific to their area. These project were used
throughout 2006 to capture hours and costs. They would like to use these
projects like a template which includes all the existing task and resource
assignments to create their 2007 projects plans. If they do a 'Save As' the
Work, Actual Work and Actual Work Protected' is brought over to the new plan.
We are looking for a way to bring over the tasks and resources only.

Debbie,
It depends on how the actual work was entered. Since you mention the
Actual Work Protected you must be using PWA with Project Server. Also,
when you say that the managers would like to capture the data, I assume
you mean that they want to use the actual values from this year for next
year's plan.

Unfortunately I do not work with Server and there might be some fairly
easy steps you can take in that environment to get what you need. I
suggest you re-post to our sister newsgroup,
microsoft.public.project.server

Hope this helps.
