Cost in a Date Range

P

Peter

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how I can set a filter up that would allow me to
see the cost of tasks for a certain time range. The date filter does not
seem to do this, but is always applied across the entire project. Does
anyone know how to setup a date filter that would filer the cost also?

Hello Peter,
Use the Task Usage view : View / Task Usage
and insert the Cost field : Right clic on a yellow cell...

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Yes I know about that option, but I'm looking for the ability to filter by
cost over a certain period. I want to use this in an export. What I'm trying
to do is generate an invoice report for a specific period and not for the
entire project. So I need to be able to have cost only totaled for a given
period.

Hi,

Cost over a certain period is the difference between Cum Cost (an available
timescaled field) on end and start date of the period.
If you can export that?

ok,

But, I'm not looking for the cost over the whole period of the project. For
example, if I have a project that has been in progress for 5 weeks, and I
want to know the cost incurred during week 3. How would I go about doing
this. The project is in week 5 but I want to know the costs during week 2?

Hi Peter,

I personally would do this in a VBA procedure.
Exporting timescaled values to Excel may be an alternative but I don't have
a lot of experience with that.
If you have some knowledge on VBA I can put you on the road.

Hi,

Excellent news!
(Forgive me if I repeat things you might already know)
Alt+F11 brings you to the VB Editor
One of the toolbar icons is "Object Browser"Open it, look for
Timescaledvalues object and TimescaleData method
If you're oinly interested in data on task level (as opposed to the more
detailed assignment level) the heart of your procedure could look like this
Set TSV =
mytask.timescaledata(mytask.start,mytask.finish,pjtasktimescaledcumulativeco
st, _
pjtimescaledays,1)
......
'Search for the position of start and end dates in the Timescalevalues
'I call them B and F

mytask.cost2=TSV(F).value-TSV(B-1).value

OK?

Greetings
