I cannot help myself. Sorry.

One can buy Serif PagePlus8 PDF which includes the ability to output PDF
files directly for about $80, much less if one is a registered user of a
previous version. What's more, it can include bookmarks, hyperlinks and
more so one can e-mail a newsletter to a subscriber, include a website
in it that is clickable, and have the subscriber go directly to the
site. I don't think Acrobat or PDF-Exchange can do that without jumping
through hoops.

I've never had a single problem with pdf995 and I use it a lot. If it works
and produces the desired result, then why would it be considered garbage?

Some people are satisfied with low quality output, and for those people the
freeware PDF makers that produce sub-standard results are fine.

If you want top quality PDF output, you still have to use Acrobat/Distiller.
