Create a group from recipient list

If you have an email that contains many recipients in To: is there any
shortcut to put all these people in a group without having to add them
one-by-one to your address book and then assemble the group?

Roger,

No shortcut. However, please respect the recipient's privacy and place
multiple people in the Bcc:

I don't know what you mean by "group", but it's possible you could make a
Distribution List.

In Address Book you can make a new contact or a new Group. In Contacts you
make a Distribution List. You get to send an email message to a bunch of
people in either case.

You should never manipulate your contacts using the Address Book, since it
contains no data and is simply a view of your Contacts folders that have
been enabled as address books. Unwanted side effects can occur if you do.
For example, if you delete an entry from the address book interface, the
contact associated with that entry is NOT deleted from the Contacts folder
containing it. Instead, the electronic address for that contact is removed
from the contact record.

Thanks for that advice.

Is there any way to quickly make a distribution list from the recipients in
To: in a message?

If all the addresses are in Internet format and separated by semicolons,
yes. Select the entire recipient list, right-click and choose Copy. In the
Inbox, click New>Distribution list. Click Select Members, select the
Members field, right-click and select paste. Click OK.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately this does not seem to work in
Outlook 2000. I don't get a "Members" field after I click the "Select
Members" button. Basically the dialog forces you to select from existing
contacts. Any attempt to paste in the addresses from the message does not
work and is truncated to one entry in any case.

Looks like you have to slug it out.

I just tested Outlook 2000, and I can type in the field to the right of
"Add", but I didn't try pasting (I didn't have a list of addresses handly).
Are you saying that paste doesn't work in that field?

To the right of "Add>" in my "Select Members" dialog is a listbox that gets
populated by clicking the Add> button. It is not a combo box so I can't
type in it. The only place I can type is to the left of "Find..." and that
is only used to position the "Name'" list.

Well, I can type in the one I tried. It is Outlook 2000 in CW mode and
while it does get populated with the Add button, I can also simply enter
into it whatever I want using the keyboard.
